IntelliSense Ships IntelliSuite v8, a Revolutionary New Version of its CAD/EDA for MEMS Wednesday July 27, 6:32 pm ET Multi-media presentation
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 2005--IntelliSense announced the immediate availability of IntelliSuite v8, billed as the most significant upgrade in its history. IntelliSuite v8 is based on a new architecture that combines the best of bottom-up process- driven design and top-down synthesis.
IntelliSuite v8 ships with many industry-first capabilities. IntelliSuite is a Living Design Environment that allows program managers, system architects and electrical engineers, device and package designers, process engineers and operators, and test and manufacturing engineers to efficiently work together to create first-time-right, manufacturable designs.
Feature highlights IntelliSuite v8 contains a large number of new and powerful features, refinements and capabilities. Some of the highlights of v8 are listed below.
SYNPLE -- system simulation made simple Developed by IntelliSense to answer the unique needs of the microsystem and nanotechnology community, SYNPLE is a system-level simulator for multi-scale (macro, micro, nano) phenomenon simulations. While SYNPLE's range is wide enough to create complex simulations, its user interface is exactly what the name implies -- simple. SYNPLE ships with an extensive line of comprehensive element libraries. These include analog, digital, mixed-signal, micromechanics, semiconductor, MEMS, generalized inertial device and biological modules. And if these aren't enough, SYNPLE's expandable architecture will enable you to expand the libraries by creating customized elements of your own.
MEMS-SoC Constructor Kit -- System-on-a-Chip design kit
The MEMS-SoC Constructor Kit is a set of optimized Verilog-A libraries for the design of MEMS-based systems on a chip. MEMS-SoC directly fits into EDA methodologies, allowing you to integrate MEMS and CMOS on the same chip.
System Model Extractor (SME)-- accurate N-DOF dynamic system models SME accurately creates N-DOF system models that fully capture the dynamics of MEMS devices, including harmonic/sub-harmonic responses. Large FEA models can be automatically converted into computationally efficient HDL system models that can be used in conjunction with SYNPLE or other popular EDA system simulators from Synopsys, Cadence or Mentor Graphics.
RECIPE -- RIE/ICP and Bosch process etch simulator RECIPE is a powerful, easy-to-use RIE/ICP (Reactive Ion Etch/Inductive Coupled Plasma) etch process simulation tool for use in designing microstructures. With RECIPE, you can lay out your microstructure and automatically simulate isotropic, RIE, ICP/Bosch/DRIE etching or any combination of the three processes. RECIPE complements our existing product AnisE, which is the industry standard anisotropic wet-etch simulator.
IntelliMask Pro -- professional MEMS layout tool An upgrade to the popular IntelliMask scriptable layout tool, IntelliMask Pro adds professional workgroup features, such as, shared design libraries and templates, support for combined IC and MEMS layout, a wide range of import/export and conversion capabilities including: DXF, GDSII, CIF, GERBER, RS-247, Electromask (EMK) and high resolution PostScript support. Additional unique features include: layer transparency, strong Boolean support, and the ability to use TrueType fonts.
Cost modeling -- understand the economics of manufacturing The MEMS Cost Model enables you to understand the impact of process and foundry choices on the final cost of your product. The MEMS Cost Model allows managers and engineers to perform scenario analyses to understand the impact of the process flow, wafer yield, die size and die yield on the final cost of the production. Should you outsource the production of the product? Should you use an ICP based etch step in your process flow? Are your fab utilization and depreciation rates affecting the margins? The MEMS Cost Model is designed to make these decisions easy to understand.
Non-quasistatic dynamics modeling -- 100 -1000x performance improvements IntelliSuite includes novel algorithms to perform non-quasistatic coupled field analysis. All the other MEMS tools use quasistatic analysis for electromechanical modeling. Accurate 3D dynamic simulations and system simulations (transient, ac/dc, steady-state, harmonic and sub-harmonic analyses) can now be performed 100-1000x faster than equivalent FEA simulations. 3D dynamic simulations that previously could take hours to days can now be performed in a matter of seconds.
Monte Carlo and parametric simulations IntelliSuite includes full capability to perform rapid Monte Carlo simulations. Manufacturing and process engineers can study the effect of manufacturing variability (such as film thickness or line width variance) on the device or system performance. Parametric and Monte Carlo studies can be at the process, device or system level to understand the product yield.
Scripting and parametric libraries IntelliSuite now includes full support for scripting capabilities for layout automation and automatic creation of parametric models. IntelliSuite ships with a large parametric library of commonly used MEMS (such as comb designs, spring designs, gyro layouts, etc.) and packaging elements (SOIC, DIP, QFP, etc.). In addition, IntelliSuite also ships with a large test element parametric library to create commonly used test structures for material property extraction, stress measurement and connectivity tests.
"We are extremely pleased with how v8 turned out. IntelliSuite v8 ships with many industry first and only features", said Sandeep Akkaraju, CEO of IntelliSense.
"We focused on three things with IntelliSuite v8 -- collaboration, creativity and speed," said Mr. Akkaraju. "MEMS is a multi-disciplinary game, and IntelliSuite provides a living design environment for collaboration. IntelliSuite ships with a widely expanded portfolio of tools allowing designers to explore a large design space in an efficient manner aiding in creativity. The speed gains in using IntelliSuite v8 are quite remarkable; dynamic simulations and control system design that previously took hours to days can now be solved in seconds."
